Excellent topic. I just learned about the maya nut. http://www.theequilibriumfund.org/page.cfm?pageid=2996 This nut was a staple for the Maya civilization but modern people have forgotten about it. Teaching people in South America about it has led to replanting this largest tree of the rain forest. Pretty cool.
